Congressional Art Competition Winner Announced

CHS Senior Peri-Kate Navarro won 1st Place in the 2016 Congressional Art Competition for the state of Vermont!

This is the 35th annual nation-wide high school arts competition sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives, including Congressman Peter Welch of Vermont.

The Congressional Art Competition was started by Vermont representative Jim Jeffords and is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent of all high school artists.

The winning artist is awarded a trip to the opening reception in Washington, D.C., and the winning artwork is displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol, along with the winning artwork from all participating districts from around the country.  Peri’s artwork will be honored at an awards ceremony on Monday, May 9that the Vermont College of Fine Arts, and will be featured on Congressman Welch’s House.gov’s Congressional Art Competition webpage for the coming year.  Congratulations, Peri-Kate Navarro!  CHS and the Art Department are so proud of you!
