Mark Your Calendar for End of School Year Music Events

Strong music and arts programs are vital to providing our kids with a well-rounded education. The Colchester School District has more than 520 students participating in its band and choral curriculum, and that number is growing every year.

The schools are hosting the following final musical performances for the school year (all performances are free and open to the public):

May 5 – CHS Chorus Pops, 7 pm at CHS

May 13 – 5th grade Band and Chorus, 6:30 pm at CHS

May 14 – 3rd/4th grade Chorus Concert, 6:00 pm at MBS

May 19 – CMS Chorus Concert, 7 pm at CMS Gymnasium

May 21 – CMS Band Concert, 7 pm at CMS Gymnasium

May 27 – CHS Band Pops Concert, 7 pm at CHS

Friends of Colchester Music (FCM) will be selling DVDs at all the events (except for the May 14 event at MBS) and flowers (except for the May 13 and 14 events at MBS). DVDs are $5 each and must be ordered and paid for at the event. FCM will host receptions following the CHS Chorus and Band Pops Concerts on May 5 and May 27. And to tempt you one more time FCM will accept prepaid orders ($10 per 1 dozen) of the ever popular Krispy Kreme doughnuts at the May 5 CHS Chorus Pops Concert.

Money from the sale of flowers and DVDs raise much needed funds for CSD music students throughout the district. FCM helps support the CSD music programs with donations of instruments and concert attire, financial aid and class trips, festival fees, and scholarships. Purchases this school year have included a piano for CHS, a Bulgarian Choir master class at CHS, iPads for the UMS and PPS music programs, concert toms at CHS, and 10 Chromebook laptops for the CMS music program.
