Colchester High School Music Sampler Concert

Colchester High School Music Sampler Concert: First Concert of the School Year

The Colchester High School is hosting its Music Sampler Concert on Thursday, October 23 at 7 pm in the CHS auditorium. This first concert of the year, also the shortest musical event of the year, features each high school band (concert band and jazz band) performing one piece each. Each of the CHS chorus groups (freshman chorus, chamber choir, concert choir, chorale, and men’s ensemble) will also perform.

The high school music programs continue to experience growth in their numbers each year thanks to successful band and chorus programs at Malletts Bay School and the Colchester Middle School. This year, the CHS band program has 87 students participating (66 in concert band and 21 in jazz band). This year’s choral program has more than 100 students participating, including 40 students in the freshman chorus!

This free event provides a great opportunity for the community to get a sneak preview of our high school’s music program and its many talented students.

About Friends of Colchester Music:

Friends of Colchester Music was formed in 2005 by a CSD music teacher and parent volunteer who recognized the need for a music booster organization in the school district. Their objective was to support the student musicians of Colchester and bring together those who felt that supporting strong music education programs was as critical to the schools as supporting academic and sports curriculums.
