The official inauguration of the upgraded Colchester High School Science Center took place last evening and was well attended by representatives from both state and local government, Colchester citizens and retired CHS science faculty.
Remarks were delivered by Governor Peter Shumlin, Agency of Education Secretary Rebecca Holcombe, Colchester School Board Chair Mike Rogers and Principal Amy Minor who thanked the citizens, taxpayers and voters of Colchester for their vital support of the project. All speakers seconded Ms. Minor’s focus on the development of the children of Colchester in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, alluding to the the necessity of scientific skills in a modern knowledge economy.
The official ribbon cutting was performed by the CHS science faculty accompanied by long-time CHS science faculty member Mr. Joe Desrosiers. Tours of the Science Center followed and many participants also attended the CHS Parent Open House.
