With support from the Colchester Historical Society and many generous individuals, approximately fifty community members collaborated in the creation of the mural on Colchester’s June 8 Charter Day at Bayside Park. The mosaic contains an array of symbols of our lakeside community, including a fishing lure and bobber, rocks and pot shards collected from the lakeshore, and various memorabilia and personal belongings from community members. Speaking at the dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony were project coordinators Sandy Hawkes and Fran Allyn as well as Colchester Selectboard Chair Nadine Scibek.
Great news! No taxpayer funds were used in the creation of this mural; all materials and other related resources were donated by generous contributors.
Happy 250th Anniversary, Colchester! Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this beautiful community project.
