On Wednesday, October 9, Colchester High School will host its first music concert of the year. The concert, which is a music sampler, will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the community auditorium at CHS.
The music sampler will also be the shortest musical event of the year, featuring the high school jazz band and concert band. “The concert band is now a fuller band of fifty-four students—almost twenty more just from last year!” said CHS band director Evan Peltier. “And the jazz band will perform an arrangement of ‘Suit and Tie’ by Justin Timberlake.”
Each of the CHS chorus groups—freshman chorus, concert choir, and chamber singers—will also perform. “All of the choral students will join to sing one number all together—a rocking gospel tune called ‘Walk in Jerusalem,'” said CHS choir director Melissa Towle. “Other pieces of note include the concert choir singing Mozart’s ‘Ave Verum’ along with a string trio made up of three CHS string players—Carina Sobel, Allison Pilcher, and Hannah Rogers.”
Please join us for this free community event showcasing our high school’s music program and its many talented students!
