The parking lot off Mills Point Road will be closed, and the causeway will be completely closed from Mills Point to the cut during the repairs.
The historic 2011 flood caused significant damage to the causeway, and the extensive, largely FEMA-funded restoration project completed earlier this year allowed for widespread summer use of the popular trail. Now, the installation of supplemental rock will bolster the causeway to further protect against erosion.
“We wanted to finish out the summer season before starting the repairs in order to minimize the impact on those who enjoy the path,” said Colchester Parks and Recreation Department’s Director Glen Cuttitta.
