WANTED: Parents and Citizens for MBS School Community Council!

Are you interested in partnering with us to assess Malletts Bay School’s effectiveness with family and community engagement?

As one component of MBS’s restructuring process, the school is assembling a School Community Council, which will include administrators, teachers, guidance counselors, an English Language Learner teacher, a social worker, and parents and community members. We would like to partner with as many parents and community members as we can for this process!

There will be approximately 6–8 evening meetings—each about 90 minutes long—throughout the school year, during which time council members will utilize a research-based family engagement tool with the goal of assessing the school’s effectiveness with family and community engagement. The council will collaboratively conduct a comprehensive analysis of MBS’s family and community engagement practices, and by the end of the coming school year, the assessment will be completed, and an action plan will be in place.

Please partner with us! The district’s vision and strategic plan specifically works to cultivate parent, community, and school partnerships among lifelong learners.

MBS can encourage and support parent and citizen participation in this council by offering child care, refreshments, translators, and assistance to ameliorate transportation barriers.
