Project Inside Out About to Kick Off Its 33rd Year!

Porters Point School’s thirty-third Project Inside Out will run from June 7 through June 12!

As Project Inside Out is about to begin, we all fondly remember Patsy Jedrezewski (“Mrs. Jed”), who passed away a few weeks ago. Many of you no doubt remember her countless pictures of her musical instruments and the Great Green Convertible. We also fondly remember Brenda Bristol, the founding director of Project Inside Out, who died just before the start of Project Inside Out’s thirtieth year.

Growing from just two classrooms and a handful of volunteers more than three decades ago, Project Inside Out has become a hugely successful and dearly loved school-wide annual event with vast community involvement, providing students with the opportunity to enjoy a wide assortment of activities related to their year-long learning outside in the fresh air and sunshine. Students explore their interests in a lively, supportive environment and gain exposure to activities they might otherwise not, reflecting upon their projects through twice-daily journal writing. Project Inside Out provides a fun and creative alternative outlet for students at the school year’s end—a memorable and exciting way to kick off summer vacation.

Did you know that Project Inside Out is nearly 100 percent funded by a fall fundraiser, a spaghetti supper and auction in January, and donations?

Would you like to know how can you help continue the tradition and create new memories? Here are some suggestions!

1. Volunteer to help with a project this year
2. Donate the cost of a Project Inside Out T-shirt (beginning in 2010, all students are given a Project Inside Out T-shirt—an approximate value of $6.00)

3. Sponsor the cost for all or part of a project. ($40-$60 provides the supplies for 8-10 students for a two-day project.)
