On June 1, CHS students and staff were on hand to accept the award and demonstrate an aspect of the sustainability project—a human-powered generator built by science educator Will Warren.

As we’ve mentioned, the generator is capable of storing electricity to help offset some of CHS’s stage lighting, sound, and projection equipment’s power requirements. Performers requiring electricity can generate and store at least some of it in advance and then use it during their performances, which creates more ecologically conscious and responsible facilities. Developing greater awareness about conservation efforts—and developing hands-on solutions—helps our students collaborate with their local and global communities to address our intensifying ecological situation.
Many, many thanks to Berlin City for its support of our schools yet again!
