On April 12 and 13 beginning at 7:00 p.m., the Colchester Middle School Drama Club will present The Music Man Junior in the Colchester High School theater. Admission is $3 for students and senior citizens and $5 for adults.
The Music Man Junior is based upon the book, music, and lyrics for The Music Man, written by conductor, composer, and playwright Meredith Willson. In fact, The Music Man was the work for which Meredith Willson was best known. The hugely successful original Broadway production ran in 1958 and 1959, winning Tony Awards in numerous categories.
Set in Iowa in 1912, the musical provides humor, drama, and even a love story as con artist Harold Hill masquerades as a band organizer in order to defraud the townspeople.
More than fifty students in grades 6–8 have worked diligently since early November to prepare for this event, participating on and off stage by learning lines, songs, blocking, choreography, and constructing the set and props. Please join us for this community event showcasing our students’ hard work and energy!
Remember that Colchester Middle School’s calendar of events can be found on the school’s website, and CMS publishes a weekly Friday Focus with news and updates, as well. Colchester School District also posts a district-wide calendar of events, so be sure to check there often, too!
