The Back-to-School Barbecue will be at the green between Malletts Bay School and Colchester Middle School on Thursday, August 25 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The barbecue is a family event and a great opportunity for students and their families to meet the principals and staff. Hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, snacks, and other assorted refreshments will be served. Please visit CMS’s website or click this link to register. The barbecue is $2.25 per person. SMART-Start Orientation, which is the first day of school for sixth graders as well as new seventh and eight graders, will be on August 30. It is a day for these new students to get to know their teachers, ask questions about CMS, find their way around the building, and practice using their lockers. The academic school day begins at 7:30 a.m. Tardies are assigned beginning at 7:35 a.m. Students are encouraged to know how long it will take them to arrive at school on time, particularly if they are taking alternative transportation or if they are walking to and from school. The school day ends at 2:06 p.m.
