Colchester High School students will present the results of their work in Civics on Monday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the CHS cafeteria.
Senior Seminar: Civics is a one-semester course, and it is a graduation requirement for all CHS seniors. It is designed to promote responsible citizenship skills, focusing upon the obligations of citizenship and allowing students to connect with their local, state, national, and global communities.
Seniors focus upon aspects of government and civic responsibility for the first quarter, and the second quarter is devoted to a comprehensive service-learning project that must be approved by the Humanities department, Civics teachers, and the administration.
The service-learning projects involve extensive research, including site visits, interviews, and volunteer service. Students write a position paper about their findings and create displays to present to the public.
